KAPITI BMX NEWSLETTER - SEPTEMBER 2009 Back to racing Friday 2 October - Final check in 5:30pm, gates till 6pm, racing. With daylight saving here, we are starting club nights again. Get those bikes in good order, and get ready for more BMX action. Safety Checklist – tyres pumped up, check brakes are good, handle bar ends are plugged, no pegs or sharp objects (eg no chain and mud guards, stands, etc). Mountain bikes OK too. Helmets , long pants and long sleeves (or pads), shoes are a must. No safety gear means no racing or gates sorry. Gloves if got them. Tues 27 Oct - Special Club night with Sarah Walker World BMX Champ. Early check in 5pm. This night is for normal racing and to promote the club. It includes: Interview with Sarah and get to meet her, awards presented to Kapiti riders, promotion for new people. Bring anyone new interested in BMX to see racing in action (your racing), get info about our club, and info about “having a go” the following Friday. Sarah won both the Elite women’s 20inch (Olympic class) and Cruiser classes at the recent World Champs, raced at the Olympics last year, and regularly races all over the world. She is not often in NZ, so we are very fortunate to have her visit. Wet weather backup will be indoors TBA, with Sarah Walker’s interview and your chance to meet her.Friday 30 Oct – “have a go day” with Free racing and activities For members, and for new people to try Bmxing. We need to get more riders for you to race with, so tell your friends and come along for fun races and activities. Casual 4:30 to 7:30pm New riders - can come try Bmxing at any club night. You don’t need to wait till 30 Oct.Calendar 28 Sep to 8 Oct practice gates in holidays. Watch emails for days and times Friday 2 Oct racing (and race group grading) Friday 9 Oct racing (and race group grading) Friday 16 Oct racing - first point’s night for Club Trophy series. (Rules to come) Friday 23 Oct No racing – Labour weekend Tuesday 27 Oct racing, Sarah Walker visit, promotional day for new people. Points 5pm Friday 30 Oct racing and activities – “Have a Go Day” 4:30 through to 7:30pm 6 Nov to 11 Dec Friday racing as usual.
